Nashville DJ Diaries | Leeanna + Chris

Today's DJ Diary is dedicated to all of the spaces that you would never expect to be a beautiful wedding location. J Clark had the honor of providing the entertainment for Leeanna and Chris' wedding at Brentwood Country Club. If you are one to judge a book by it's cover, then you could be missing out on a space waiting to be transformed! Brentwood Country Club (with a little help from Nashville wedding planners, Firefly Events)  provided a beautiful Tennessee backdrop for this Nashville wedding!

1. Tell us a little about the couple and their wishes for their wedding: Leeanna & Chris chose Brentwood Country Club for their wedding venue and even though I have been driving past BCC for all my life, hundreds of times. I have never once gazed upon the beauty of this location until just a couple of weeks before the wedding. When the wedding day came, the surroundings of wedding decor, combined with the beautiful landscape and golf course of BCC really took their day to a whole new level. Leeanna & Chris expressed to me early on that they were really into some old school music. Leeeanna's words to me? "Every classic wedding song ever played...I want it played at my wedding!" And I can definitely jive with that! So Kool & the Gang, the Commodores, KC & the Sunshine Band, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and the list goes on for all the classic wedding music you can imagine. And as with every couple I speak with, it was very important that all their guests have a great time and be able to dance.

2. Was there anything unique about the day? Special moments among family members? Couple? Friends? There were a few special dedications during the reception. Leeanna & Chris really wanted to recognize 2 of their guests who had recently graduated from college, so Michelle from Firefly Events had some cap and gowns ready as I played the Original Graduation song and announced them across the dance floor for their "graduation walk". I was truly the Dean of Brentwood Country Club that day as I announced their names and degrees. And their was also a special birthday shoutout to Chris' sister as she was celebrating her 11th birthday. Leeanna and Chris presented her with her birthday cupcake and everyone sang happy birthday with a little instrumental accompaniment.

3. What were some of the couple's music selections for ceremony? Reception?
For the ceremony, Leeanna & Chris wanted to go classical, but also wanted to have a touch of modern day music, so I turned them onto the Vitamin String Quartet. They do a great job of taking modern day music and giving it that classical feel. And of course, it's tough to beat the classical "Canon in D" for the Brides Precession. And for the reception, Leeanna & Chris shared their first dance to Ed Sheeran's "Tenerife Sea". Definitely the most consistent artist I've seen this year when it comes to First Dances. To close the reception, we had 2 back to back songs that filled the dance, "She's a Bad Mama Jama" by Carl Carlton and "Glad You Came" by The Wanted. This really brought together their wishes for some old school funk and a fun high energy song to end the night on. A very cool scene, I always enjoy seeing couples engulfed by their guests at the end of the night!
